A full-featured messenger on your server: chats, voice rooms, video calls, file storage, and bots. Accessible through the web interface and native apps for Android, Windows, and Linux. An iOS app is coming soon.
What it is and why
GoMsg is an open-source messenger you run on your own server. After installation you get a personal messenger with the same set of features as the apps you're used to — only your data stays entirely under your control. Great for family, friends, a team, or a whole community.
What you can do
- Personal and group chats — messaging, history, search, attachments.
- Voice rooms — drop in and talk, just like Discord. No time limits.
- Video calls — one-on-one and group, in HD quality.
- Files of any size — the only limit is your disk, not your plan.
- Bots and integrations — notifications, polls, automation.
- Live chat for websites — a built-in support widget for your visitors.
How it runs
The server runs through Docker — a single command is enough to bring up everything you need. It works on a VPS, a home mini PC, or an old laptop. Clients connect to the server's address: enter the URL in the app and you immediately see your chats, voice rooms, and contacts.
How it differs from Telegram and WhatsApp
- Your data stays yours. No one scans your conversations for ads.
- No limits. File size, number of participants, room length — you decide.
- Your people only. Family, friends, team — no spam from unknown numbers.
- Free forever. No subscriptions and no locked features.
Deployment is straightforward — if you already have a server with Docker, everything comes up in a couple of minutes. If anything is unclear along the way, there's no need to Google for hours — write to us, we'll help you through any step and suggest the optimal configuration for your use case.
