A voice room is an audio and video conference inside a messenger. Unlike a regular one-on-one call, several people can join a room at the same time, talk, mute or unmute their microphone, and share their camera. Perfect for a group of friends, a gaming team, or a work call.
Step 1. Open GoMsg and go to the «Rooms» tab
In the left panel of the messenger, find the Rooms tab. This is where all the server rooms available to you are listed.
If you have multiple servers, make sure the one where you want to create the room is selected. The server switcher is at the very top.
Step 2. Click «Create room»
In the top-right corner of the rooms list, click the + button or «Create room». Enter a name — for example, «Gaming», «Team», or «Friday night».
Optionally, add a description: what the room is about, the rules, what to discuss.
Step 3. Join the room
Once created, the room appears in the list. Click it, then click «Join». The messenger will ask for microphone access — allow it.
At the bottom left you'll see the control buttons:
- Microphone — mute/unmute
- Camera — show video from your webcam
- Screen share — show your screen to others
- Leave — leave the room (the room stays for everyone else)
Step 4. Invite friends
There are two ways to invite friends:
- Share the server link. If your friends aren't on the server yet, send them an invite link. They'll sign up and see the room.
- Ping them in chat. If your friends are already on the server, write in the general chat: «Come to Rooms, I'm in room X». They'll get a notification.
Step 5. Talk
Once everyone's in — just talk. Whoever wants to turns on their camera, whoever wants to shares their screen. You can play a game, discuss a project, or watch a movie together. There are no limits on time or number of people.
Inside the room there's a text chat — for links, screenshots, and notes you want to keep.
Why a voice room is better than a regular call
- Many people at once. A call usually has 2–5 people. A room can have dozens.
- No need to call anyone. People join on their own when they're ready.
- No need to recreate it. The room stays — drop in, talk, leave.
- Listen to several people at once. Like on Discord — one person talks, others react.
- Text chat in parallel. Drop memes and links while you talk.
FAQ
How many people fit in a voice room?
Technically, the limit is determined by the server's capacity. On a standard GoMsg server, 30–50 people can comfortably talk at the same time. For streams and large events, it can be configured for more.
Do I need Discord to talk over voice?
No. GoMsg fully replaces Discord's voice channels. You get rooms, video, screen sharing, and text chat — all in one app.
Can I record a voice room?
Yes. The room creator and administrators have a record button. The recording is saved on the server and can later be downloaded or forwarded to a chat.
How much does it cost to create rooms?
Nothing. Voice rooms in GoMsg are always free, with no limits on time or quantity.
